On November 28, 2004 Masood Ahmed, director general of the British Department for International Development in charge of policy and international affairs, accompanied Yang Hong Sheng, assistant director of the Yunnan Public Health Department, and Hu Hong, manager of the Yunnan HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care Office, on a visit to Daytop China's drug abuse treatment and rehabilitation center in Chenggong to inspect the U.K./China Aids Care Project. The purpose of Mr. Ahmed's trip was to strengthen cooperation between the U.K. and Chinese governments and to promote the implementation and follow-up of British international aid projects in Yunnan. Mr. Ahmed expressed his interest in Daytop's development and his wish to help securing funds to promote the further development and expansion of cooperative projects.
