On December 26, 2004 the Indian Ocean experienced an earthquake resulting in the worst tidal wave recorded in 40 years and causing massive damage in south and Southeast Asia. At present the number of total deaths from this disaster has passed 150,000, with over 100,000 people injured and countless numbers missing. The death toll continues rising. Viewing the scenes of devastation in the disaster zone and the fields littered with corpses, seeing the people reduced to helplessness by this natural disaster we feel shaken to the core. Put aside thoughts of countries and politics - these people need all our help. The medicine purchased with one more dollar could save a life, and what little strength we have could be the ray of hope for life that an injured person needs. The Daytop Red Cross calls on each person to give generously for the aid of those living in the disaster zone. Donations can be made to the Daytop account:
Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Kunming City, Chuanfang Residential Quarter Savings Bank Account Number 2502119601010174611
Names and donation amounts from willing participants will be posted on the Daytop website and on Phoenix TV. Donors should indicate their willingness to be publicized when making their donation. All donations will be transferred to the PhoenixTV Charitable Foundation, for use in aiding survivors of the south Asia tidal wave. If you cannot give help through Daytop, please give help any way you can. Thank you for caring.
