The mission on the Rainbow Community Care Center is to limit the transmission and spread of HIV/AIDS and to reduce occurrence of negative consequences associated with drug abuse. The Yunnan Daytop Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitative Center in cooperation with Futures Group Europe established the Rainbow Center, which from site selection through to opening was the result of painstaking efforts by former drug users. Now it serves as a starting point and a warm home for drug users hoping to begin a healthy life.
The aim of the center is to encourage healthy lifestyles and safe behaviors, reduce the transmission of HIV/AIDS and reduce the risks associated with drug use by providing positive role models.
The center provides the following services for drug abusers and people with a history of drug abuse:

   Self-help and mutual support activities for drug users and those trying to quit (Narcotics Anonymous)
   Family counseling and the Family Association
   Pre- and post-detox counseling, drug-abuse related information, advisement and psychological counseling
   Condom promotion
   Community outreach services
   HIV voluntary counseling and testing

All activities offered by the Rainbow Center use a peer education model, because we believe that people can change and that there is no limit to the power of a good example. In order to reduce the harms associated with drug use as much as possible, and in response to the call of the Yunnan Province 6th Programme on HIV/AIDS Prevention and the needs of the drug using community, we provide clean injecting equipment and needle exchange services.
